Underwater Photography Exhibition, Daniel G Pérez. Cuba

Next august 14th at 6:00 PM, an exhibition by the celebrated submarine photographer Daniel G. Pérez Hernández will take place at Fresa Y Chocolate Art Gallery in the ICAIC Cinematographic and Cultural Center, located in 23rd St, between 10 and 12, Vedado, Havana City.
The exhibit by the name of “Acercamiento” (Closing in) seeks to show a selection of the artist´s best pieces to bring the audiences near to the beauties of the submarine world and the complexities of underwater photography. The viewers will also have the chance of realizing the high standards that this style has recently reached in Cuba.

Daniel G Perez is an experienced Cuban submarine photographer who has won countless national and international awards. His pictures have a high technical and artistic level which will ensure the interest of all those who visit this exposition.

The author and a group of prestigious Cuban photographers will be present in the inauguration. The exhibition will remain for a month. The entrance will be free of charge and you are all invited to visit it.

The display has been sponsored by Cubanacan Group, the ICAIC (Cuban Institute of the Arts and Cinematographic Industry), The Cienaga de Zapata Integral Touristic Group, and the Passer By Art Gallery. Curating and design are handled by Sandor Gonzalez Vilar and Yari Delgado.

He graduated from a Workshop of Photography organized by the UNEAC (National Artists and Writers´ Union of Cuba) in Matanzas in 2008. He is currently an open sea diving instructor and a submarine photography instructor. During his career as a photographer he has gathered a total of 56 awards trough his participation in different national and international festivals and contests such as:

Submarine Photography National Championship (FOTOSUB) in all its editions.
2010. – Submarine Photography Festival (ACUC), top scorer, 1st Place in 4 categories, and a special award to the best picture in the Colony Festival, Isle of Youth.
2011. -FECAS-CMAS International Submarine Photography Event. 2nd place, Colony Festival, Isle of Youth.
2013. – 14th World Championship of Submarine Photography CMAS, 1st place in the macro category, 4th place overall, Cayo Largo, Cuba,.
2014.-1st Festival of Submarine Photography Faro de Luna (Moon Beacon), 1st place, top scorer, Cienfuegos, Cuba.

After the inauguration of the exhibition have decided to use this space to display the photos exposed and what happened there.

    En una ocasión tuve la gran suerte de asomarme detrás de tu cámara y poder llevarme un maravilloso recuerdo.   4. La exposición dejó a muchos sin palabras, es mucho el talento del artista. Los visitantes que no conocen del mundo submarino se quedaron muy impresionados con la belleza del mar y de lo que es capaz de lograr en este medio, un hombre con una cámara.

    Se deben repetir estas exposiciones, pues son muchos los fotógrafos submarinos cubanos que merecen este tipo de reconocimiento a su obra.

    ¿Lo más bonito de la exposición? Pues el reconocimiento del artista a su maestro, el muy querido, Fonseca, toda una catedra en la fotografía submarina cubana.

    Todo el equipo de Cuba Diving Now está muy complacido con esta muestra y hemos aprovechados este mismo espacio para publicar las fotos expuestas y algunos momentos de la inauguración.
